Fairfax, Virginia – June 20, 2019 – Green Tech Talk recently released a blog educating readers on how to use renewable energy. While many people understand the benefits of renewable energy, they may not be aware of the many ways in which renewable energy can be used.
In many cases, renewable energy can be used in the same way as fossil fuels, which provide electricity when they are burned to power generators. However, some are more readily available than others and more suited to particular purposes. As a result, it is important to understand the uses of each before making any major decisions about installing new renewable energy generators. Installing a system that is not well suited to your area or climate will not provide a consistent, reliable source of energy.
There are several types of renewable energy available. Solar power is one of the most versatile and can provide energy for homes, businesses, modes of transportation, and even small personal devices like phones or tablets. Wind energy has similarly wide applications. It was historically used to mill grain and pump water and can now create electricity for any use. Biomass energy consists of burning plants and other natural resources for fuel. It can be used to heat homes and buildings directly or converted into ethanol and other biofuels to replace gas in cars. Geothermal energy can only be used in areas that contain natural hot springs. It is typically most effective in heating and can be used to regulate the temperature in buildings, greenhouses, and fish farms, among other locations. Geothermal energy can also assist in drying crops and pasteurizing milk. Finally, hydrogen power can be obtained by separating hydrogen from other compounds and using the element to create fuel. This separation process is expen
sive, and hydrogen fuel is used primarily in NASA’s space shuttles and rockets.
