KATHMANDU, Nepal – A new era of global community building has arrived with the launch of Sanjal.com — a disruptive platform created in response to Nepal’s nationwide social media ban. What began as a grassroots, open-source project in Kathmandu has now evolved into a global online discussion forum and knowledge sharing platform, empowering people everywhere to ask questions online, share ideas, and build meaningful communities.
In 2025, Nepal shocked the world by blocking 26 popular platforms — including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Reddit — silencing millions. Protests erupted, and innovation took root. Out of this blackout, a small team of Nepali builders created Sanjal.com (Sanjal means “network” in Nepali and Hindi) to ensure conversations, knowledge, and freedom of speech could continue without interruption.
Features that Redefine Community.
Unlike conventional platforms, Sanjal.com is designed as more than just social media. Current features include: – Ask a Question – the core function, enabling users worldwide to start conversations and find answers. – Real-Time Chat – instant, community-driven communication, blending forum structure with direct interaction. – Social Networking – connect across categories like education, health, justice, security, and technology. – AI Tools – smart summaries, fact-checks, and creative prompts that keep discussions informed and engaging.
And this is only the beginning. The Sanjal team is planning to build a global super app, integrating social commerce, marketplaces, and advanced AI tools — creating a resilient ecosystem for the future of digital democracy.
A Bold Vision with Global Ambition
“We didn’t build Sanjal to copy existing platforms — we built it because when social media was banned, Nepal had no independent alternative,” said Laxman Kafle, Founder of Sanjal.com. “Sanjal is freedom in action — a space where people, not algorithms, control the conversation. Our mission is to challenge the status quo and create the world’s most open, community-driven knowledge network.”
Call to Innovators and Investors
With Nepalese roots and a global mission, Sanjal.com is seeking investors, grants, and collaborators who believe in building open, censorship-resistant platforms. This is not just another startup — it’s a movement to prove that communities can own their digital future.
