LOS ANGELES, CA – Caleb Carter, a bold new voice in socially conscious comic storytelling, releases two groundbreaking titles that are already turning heads: Warehouse Willie: Teamsters Steward Chronicles and Ortega Comics: Life in LA. With sharp writing, dynamic illustrations, and unflinching honesty, both works dive into the everyday lives of working-class heroes—one in the union warehouse, the other on the streets of South Central Los Angeles.
In Warehouse Willie: Teamsters Steward Chronicles, Carter teams up with illustrator Patrick Harrington to capture the chaotic world of Willie, a seasoned Teamsters shop steward juggling absurd grievances, office politics, and management antics. Based on Carter’s own experience in the labor movement, the comic is a laugh-out-loud tribute to the grit and resilience of blue-collar workers. It’s workplace satire at its best—relatable, rebellious, and proudly pro-union.
Meanwhile, Ortega Comics: Life in LA—illustrated by Lisa Brennan—takes readers into the vibrant life of the Ortega family. From law school lectures to lowrider block parties, the comic explores the humor, hustle, and heartbreak of growing up Latino in South Central LA. With comparisons to The Boondocks and The Simpsons, this series weaves generational tension, street wisdom, and cultural pride into a colorful, compelling narrative.
“These books are about real people,” says Carter. “Whether it’s a steward standing up to the boss or a kid from the barrio trying to rise above, I wanted to show the dignity, humor, and truth in their everyday fights.”
Together, these comics offer a powerful double feature—unfiltered stories told with punchlines and purpose. From union halls to neighborhood sidewalks, Caleb Carter proves that the personal is political—and the political can be hilarious.
