Plot Summary:
Lucy is no ordinary Uber driver. Her obsession with adult work is all-consuming, affecting her every decision and clouding her judgment. What begins as a regular night on the job quickly transforms into a terrifying, unpredictable adventure when Lucy’s passengers start to push her boundaries. As she navigates her way through violence, chaos, and dangerous encounters, Lucy is forced to confront the darker sides of herself and the world she lives in.
But what makes the film particularly intriguing is how it doesn’t shy away from depicting the complex intersection of desire, power, and vulnerability. Directed by Kelly Helen Thompson, the film captures the raw tension and emotional unraveling of its main character, all while pushing the limits of genre and gender expectations.
Themes & Analysis:
Thompson crafts a brutal, unflinching exploration of obsession and self-destruction, while also examining broader social themes such as the commodification of women’s bodies and the violence lurking behind faceless interactions. The film raises poignant questions about identity, control, and survival in a world that often dehumanizes women.
