About the Author
Dmitry Usenco was born in Moldova (then part of the Soviet Union) and earned a master’s degree in English from the local state university in 1991. He continued his studies at the Institute of World Literature in Moscow, where he earned his doctorate in 1998 with a dissertation on Robert Browning. After a six-year academic career at a private university in Moldova, he relocated to the United Kingdom, where he has since worked as a translator, interpreter, and now writer. This is his first full-sized book, which he recommends to his readers. It is based on his experiences in West Africa acquired during his visits to Ghana and Togo in 2016, 2017, and 2019. Regarding the theoretical background, his first book can be viewed as an attempt to express his lifelong interest in religion through the lens of his philological education.
