Pays homage to our ancestors on Mount Lie, where the soul of the Chinese nation was forged. On June 2nd, the 26th day of the fourth lunar month, the grand ceremony of worshipping the Yan Emperor and the Divine Farmer was held in Suizhou, the ancestral hometown of the Yan Emperor. Descendants of the Yan and Huang Emperors from both China and abroad gathered at Mount Lie, tracing their roots and paying respects to their ancestors. This event aims to promote the spirit of the Yan Emperor, strengthen the sense of bloodline identity, and consolidate the power of rejuvenation.

In the year of Jia Chen, during the summer season, the land of the nine provinces was peaceful, and the four seas were clear and harmonious. In front of the ancestral gate of the Chinese ancestors, a grand welcome ceremony was held, with ceremonial rituals and respectful greetings, welcoming the descendants of the Yan and Huang Emperors from both inside and outside the country to trace their roots and pay respects to their ancestors. At the wall of the Yan Emperor and Divine Farmer’s ancestral hometown, the guests straightened their attire and donned yellow silk scarves. Guided by the flag square formation and the sacrificial formation, they passed by the stone carvings of the four oxen plowing, the Nine-Arch Bridge, the Gate of the Chinese Ancestors, the Sacred Fire Altar, and the Seven Steps to Heaven, until they reached the solemn Ancestral Square, where they stood in reverence facing the grand hall of the Yan Emperor and the Divine Farmer.
At around 8:40 AM, accompanied by the melodious and elegant sound of ancient bells and music, the grand ceremony of worshipping the ancestors officially began. The ceremony consisted of nine procedures:
The drums start beating, and the bells chime. The harmonious music of “Xianhe” (Harmony of the Sages) is played, and a song welcoming the deities is sung.
The sacred gate is respectfully opened. Wang Menghui takes slow steps forward, bows towards the sacred temple, and then pushes the “Fulu” (a ceremonial plow). The doors of the sacred temple slowly open, and the statue of the Yan Emperor and Divine Farmer appears before the descendants of the Yan and Huang Emperors from inside and outside the country. The attendees perform the “Three Offerings” ceremony, offering wine, grains, and silk as sacrifices to the Yan Emperor.
The new fire is lit. Representatives of young students from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese students jointly light the new fire.
The offering of flower baskets. Hao Mingjin, Hu Chunhua, Wang Menghui, Wang Zhonglin, Zhuge Yujie, Long Mingbiao, Li Xin, Guo Qimin, Li Ying, Zhang Zhenyu, Zhao Jinyun, Wang Yanling, Erkenjiang Tullahong, Zhang Shenian, Qian Yuankun, Ke Ke, in batches, respectfully offer flower baskets.
Offering incense to the ancestors. Li Shengfeng, Fang Canceng, Yu Peng, Hu Hong, Bai Meixia, Lin Hua, Zheng Mingshan, Chen Weicheng, Liao Jiayi, Sanlang Zhaxi, Yu Shanwei, Yin Shun, Wu Chengzhen, Xia Meng, Yu Shicun, Jian Hong, Sun Yingtong, Liu Baolin, Xu De, Xiong Junjie, Rao Jincai, Li Jun, pay respects to the Yan Emperor and Divine Farmer by offering incense.
Reciting the eulogy. “In the year of Jia Chen, near the Duan Yang season, the majestic mountains rise, and the fragrance of the Jiang River flows. Descendants of the dragon from the four seas seek their roots and honor their hometown. With deep admiration for the revered ancestors, we solemnly remember and pay tribute; singing the greatness of the founding ancestor, the song lasts forever…” Wang Zhonglin respectfully recites the “Eulogy to the Yan Emperor,” praising the magnificent achievements of the Yan Emperor and Divine Farmer.
Worshipping the founding ancestor together. Everyone stands solemnly, facing the statue of the Yan Emperor and Divine Farmer in the grand hall, bowing and performing the worship ritual.
Chanting the praise to the founding ancestor. Descendants of the Yan and Huang Emperors, dressed in the attire of the 56 ethnic groups, sing the “Great Song of the Yan Emperor,” echoing the anthem that extols the spirit of the Yan Emperor, resonating in the majestic mountains.
Contemplating the sacred statue. The honored guests enter the grand hall of the Yan Emperor and Divine Farmer one by one, gazing upon the sacred statue of the Yan Emperor, and cherishing the accomplishments of the Yan Emperor.
In a warm and harmonious atmosphere, the grand ceremony of worshipping the ancestors successfully concluded.
The biennial worship ceremony of the Yan Emperor and Divine Farmer in the Year of Jia Chen is the main event of the Root-Seeking Festival, which is held in the hometown of the Yan Emperor and is significant to the Chinese diaspora worldwide. The theme of this grand ceremony was “Seeking Ancestors in the Majestic Mountains, Nurturing the Soul of China.” It was jointly organized by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the Chinese Yanhuang Culture Research Association, and the People’s Government of Hubei Province. Representatives from the political, cultural, religious, and business sectors, as well as representatives from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, overseas Chinese, advanced individuals, and guests from various sectors of society, totaling more than 2,500 people, attended the ceremony.
The ceremony was broadcast live simultaneously on platforms such as the Chinese International Channel of China Central Television, Hubei TV, Xinhua Net, CCTV.com, China National Radio, Hubei Daily, Hubei Radio and Television, The Paper, Jimu News, Suizhou Daily, and Suizhou Radio and Television, ensuring that the event reached a wide audience.
