On the morning of January 18th, China’s first metaverse-based intelligent building management system (IBMS), developed by a Hubei-based enterprise, was officially unveiled at the National Communication Center for Science and Technology, CAST.
At the National Communication Center for Science and Technology, the property management department can centrally control the entire building through a metaverse 3D model in the server room. Office workers can also personalize and control the operating environment of their office areas through a mobile app. Developed by the Hubei-based enterprise Shenglong Electric, the iDrip 5.0 Smart-IoT System integrates over 20 previously independent subsystems, including security, fire control, building control, and power.
Xie Hongchao, President of Shenglong Electric Group, stated, “This is an IoT system that connects over twenty thousand sensors on one end and thousands of electromechanical devices on the other end. Through algorithm models, the entire system operates autonomously and intelligently.”
Moreover, this system can “predict the future” and achieve intelligent control for cooling and heating. For instance, by inputting the exhibition’s dates into the system in advance, the AI, based on historical data, analyzes the expected audience in each exhibition hall at specific times. It then adjusts the room temperature ahead of time, thus saving energy and enhancing the exhibition experience. This system can reduce operational costs by 70% and energy consumption by 15%.
Wang Yang, Secretary-General of the Electrical Control and Distribution Equipment Institute of the China Electrical Equipment Industry Association, commented: “It introduces AI algorithms, along with the concept of the metaverse, and new concepts related to green and low-carbon development, into intelligent power distribution systems, making it a pioneering innovation in the industry.”
