The 2023 Carbon Peak Carbon Neutral Forum and Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum, hosted by the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government and co-organized by the Shenzhen Development and Reform Commission, Shenzhen Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau, and Longgang District People’s Government, was held from November 26 to 28 in Shenzhen’s International Low Carbon City. Themed “Green Leadership, Carbon Future,” this year’s forum adopted a “1+1+8+N” model, featuring an opening ceremony, the 2023 China International Green Low Carbon Industry Expo (CCAE), eight thematic conferences and forums, multiple themed activities, and several closed-door meetings.

Coinciding with the upcoming CCAE, a fun flash event titled “Huiqiao Market” was presented by the Longgang District Culture, Broadcasting, Tourism, and Sports Bureau and organized by Shenzhen Rongwenchuang Cultural Industry Operation Management Co., Ltd. This event shared the stage with CCAE, creating an immersive, experiential urban low-carbon art and lifestyle scene for the forum.

In collaboration with the Shenzhen Illustrators Association, the organizers held an international green low-carbon illustration exhibition at Huiqiao Market. The exhibition showcased 60 low-carbon themed illustrations by 50 domestic and international original artists, offering diverse interpretations of environmental protection and low-carbon concepts, allowing visitors to explore the fusion of art and environmental ideologies.

Beyond the exhibition, an engaging low-carbon illustration art container was set up on site. A special guest, illustrator Xiaochun, was invited to create personalized portraits for attendees, enhancing the fun and interactive experience.

Moreover, the organizers invited eight original independent illustrators and artisans along with their creative merchandise to the event, encouraging hands-on DIY experiences for all visitors.

Over three days, the event featured a rich low-carbon lifestyle carnival with 12 cultural and creative stalls and 13 lifestyle and gastronomy brand booths. Interspersed were environmental drama parades and diverse musical performances.

The renowned Shenzhen-based Xiaodouhao Theater Troupe, celebrated at the Wuzhen Theater Festival, performed a new version of “The Wizard of Oz” in costumes made from recycled materials, roaming through the market and interacting with the audience for an immersive artistic experience.

Local Shenzhen bands and musicians brought a variety of musical styles, including samba, woodwind quintets, and jazz, creating a comfortable and relaxed ambiance for the audience. During breaks in the exhibition, attendees could enjoy a range of musical styles while pondering environmental protection messages conveyed through the joyful tunes.
