The 2023 Shenzhen International Smart Home Conference was held on October 17, 2023, at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center. Themed “Leading Intelligence, Shaping the Future in Shenzhen”, the conference brought experts and leaders from China’s smart technology sector. From leaders of technology alliances—such as GIIC, OpenHarmony, OpenEuler, NearLink Technology, and Power Line Communication (PLC)—to leaders in artificial intelligence, smart terminals, smart robots, and other intelligent associations as well as smart application companies, more than 700 elites from various fields of smart technology across the country gathered at the event.
Several achievements were announced during the conference: 1) Global Intelligent IoT Consortium (GIIC) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Shenzhen Furniture Association to develop smart home interoperability standards, which will promote the transition from individual smart products to whole-house intelligence; 2) The Expert Group for the Smart Lighting Electrician Association Standard was established; 3) The Shenzhen Zero-Carbon Park Construction Project was officially launched; and 4) The Shenzhen Power Line Communication (PLC) Interconnection Technology Association was officially inaugurated.
Two special forums were held during the conference. In the first forum on Power Line Communication (PLC) technology innovation and development, several guests shared their insights into the China-led communication technology standard. This technology effectively addresses pain points in existing mainstream communication technologies while offering advantages that include centralized management and minimal risk of system failure. The second forum discussed Digital Home and Smart Space, where guests delved into topics such as smart companion robots, Temi robots, multidimensional data sleep management, and smart lighting.
Meanwhile, the main forum featured keynote speeches from five distinguished guests: Mr. Wen Ku, Chairman of the China Communications Standards Association, who shared his vision for Power Line Communication applications and their future; Dr. Wang Chenglu, CEO of Shenzhen Kailong Digital Industry Development Co., Ltd. (Kaihong), on creating a unified, open, and secure digital foundation by developing the open-source HarmonyOS (Kaihong, based on OpenHarmony, has developed KaihongOS and a super device management platform under the “(1+1)xN” strategy, providing practical solutions for the digital transformation of various industries in the era of IoT); Mr. Zhou Xiaobing, Director of the International SparkLink Wireless Short-Range Communication Alliance, on the benefits of NearLink Technology, a new generation of short-range wireless communication technology that far surpasses Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in terms of speed and performance; Mr. Fan Congming, Chairman of the Shenzhen Artificial Intelligence Industry Association, with his comprehensive analysis of the potential applications of artificial intelligence in the whole-house intelligence sector; and Mr. Hou Penggang, Marketing and Technical Director of Huawei’s HUAWEI Smart Space, who explained Huawei’s achievements in the field of intelligent spaces, highlighting the way spatial intelligence is reshaping the definition of a “good house”. On top of enhancing users’ spatial experiences, whole-house intelligence also makes spatial information visible and controllable, helping property managers achieve green and energy-efficient spaces.
Fourteen leaders from the fields of smart home appliances, smart home, and smart control from Shenzhen and across China gathered in the main forum for two high-level leader dialogues. They discussed how companies can accelerate their intelligent layouts in the face of the wave of spatial intelligence as well as explored the integration of new technologies such as PLC, open-source HarmonyOS, open-source Euler, and NearLink Technology to drive innovation in smart product development, thereby accelerating the transformation of the entire home industry and upgrading the smart home industry across all scenarios.
The conference also witnessed the launch ceremony of the 2024 Shenzhen International Smart Home Expo, which is scheduled to take place at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center from March 17-20, 2024. The expo will be the first high-standard, high-quality, international smart home exhibition platform in China’s Greater Bay Area, and is expected to attract over 300,000 professional buyers to Shenzhen.
The 2023 Shenzhen International Smart Home Conference was organized by the Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, Commerce Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, Bureau of Public Works of Shenzhen Municipality and so on; and co-hosted by the Smart Home Committee of the Shenzhen Furniture Association, along with the participation of industry organizations like the Shenzhen Artificial Intelligence Industry Association, the Shenzhen Robotics Association, the Shenzhen Dan Sing Geek Association, and Easyhome New Retail.
