Sharjah, UAE – April 26, 2022 – Every year, Harvard Business Council (NY, USA) is committed to organizing the HBC International Awards to reward individuals and organizations oriented toward excellence and positively impacting the environment and society. This cycle ended on April 15, 2022, with a virtual ceremony during which 63 of the 5,000 who sent an application were awarded.
Among the winners of this edition is Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority (SEWA), which operates as a government organization but, thanks to the decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al-Qassimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, it operates as a financially and administratively independent entity, to distribute and generate electricity, water and piped natural gas to the nationals and residents of the Sharjah Emirate.
SEWA achieved a Gold level for the Projet Award by presenting the Sharjah Gas Distribution Networks project. The entity has introduced piped natural gas services for domestic, commercial, and industrial uses in Sharjah City. In conjunction with this service, SEWA also arranges the conversion of cookers and ovens fired by PLG cylinders to the natural gas system supplied by Sharjah Gas Distribution Networks, which covers all parts of Sharjah. It also initiated a project on compressed natural gas (CNG) as fuel for vehicles instead of petrol. The project’s first phase covered the conversion of all cars and vehicles owned by SEWA to use CNG.
To give life to such an ambitious project, SEWA uses a well-defined strategic plan that guarantees a smooth connection between all the parties involved.
This is the first year that SEWA has participated in the HBC International Awards. The project presented demonstrates the excellent capabilities of this organization. For this reason, the Harvard Business Council says it is honored for its participation and hopes to receive new applications in the future.
