3D NFTs are being hyped up recently and the general perception is that this might provide the gateway to the metaverse. However, things are not always the same as they look. We have seen projects disappear before public sale; we have seen the quality of certain NFTs were far lower than expected, and in other cases, 3D NFTs had quickly fallen below the initial launch price. What are the reasons behind those scenarios?
The Challenges of 3D NFTs
3D images simulates realistic lighting and scenes of real life, and based on 3D model rendering, often the most attractive component piece is the texture brought by the light, shadow and material. However, getting the said texture is also incredibly challenging for rendering, which makes 3D NFTs much harder to be generated.
Considering the overall quality of eyes, mouth, hairstyle and costumes are the most common areas to take into account when creating a 2D NFT. In comparison, creating a 3D NFT covers a much wider spectrum, i.e. facial muscles lines and eyes contours. Simply taking a generic rendering process and applying one rule to both the eyes and face usually ends up a poor result. This is what we have seen a lot in the past few months.
Without the support of real-time rendering technology that can support high-precision models, 3D technology and AR/VR technology, the development of 3D NFT market will be limited due to the shortage of talent.
Improving 3D NFT Creation
The 3D NFT market is still at its infant stage. With the support of a robust platform that can reduce the creation time, and improve the overall NFT quality, this area can thrive like a ‘magic bean’ and eventually become a ‘beanstalk’ that will lead to the Metaverse.
We have noticed a very interesting project recently: The Caduceus Metaverse Protocol.
Caduceus, the metaverse protocol with decentralized edge rendering, designed to provide the infrastructure layer for metaverse development. The ultimate goal is to provide a reliable, friendly, easy adaptable platform to the developer community and help shorten the metaverse development journey, as well as lowering the development cost. For the interest of 3D creators, Caduceus offers faster processing speed, lower latency and minimum cost in the rendering process.
Besides decentralised edge rendering feature, Caduceus is also equipped with an IPFS storage layer and unique Metaverse-Graph Consensus. Altogether it has the huge potential to become the infrastructure layer of Web3.
“Caduceus is a gateway to the future of Web3, a place that will provide everything for the development of the Metaverse” – Tim Bullman, Co-Founder of Caduceus.
Caduceus News
Caduceus recently completed its oversubscribed Series A strategic investment round with some heavy weights institutions participating, ie SIG, Blockfills, Bin Zayed Group, and Qredo.
Following that, Caduceus invited CGI artists from all over the world to share their vision of Metaverse. As a result, Caduceus presented the world with an amazing video to share the ultimate vision – how limitless the metaverse is.
This also leads to an exciting Easter Egg Hunting campaign with a chance to win $700,000 US dollars worth of CMP coins and 500 unique NFTs.
