“The Perfect Pet is an illustrated children’s book by Robert Bahrns, chronicling Math Bob’s research on his ideal pet. He would give anything to get a pet dog, but first, he needs to convince his mother to buy him one. In desperation, he begins to compile a list of alternative pets. His list keeps getting longer as he includes frogs, mice, foxes, and even bears. However, the more he contemplates the other options, the better he realizes the benefits of a dog. How will Math Bob persuade his mother that a clever little puppy will be his perfect companion?
“The Perfect Pet offered everything I could expect from a children’s book and more. The colorful illustrations grabbed my attention from the very beginning. I loved how Robert Bahrns captured every emotion on Bob’s face, starting from his excitement at the prospect of a new pet to his apparent disappointment as he judged its pros and cons. Bahrns carefully incorporated minute details that gave us a holistic picture of Bob’s hobbies and likings. Bob’s imaginative thinking and logical approach to solving a problem will inspire young readers to follow suit. The book introduces youngsters to many animals, thus enriching their knowledge. The short, rhyming sentences accompanying the pictures make it a perfect book for children to read aloud. It also includes lots of interactive tasks to enhance readers’ skills, such as their power of observation, counting, and memory. I would recommend this book for children aged 3-7 years.”
