“As of 2024, the SAT will be going digital. Test takers will use computers and tablets at testing centers or at schools with proctors monitoring the test area. The new exam will be around two hours long, compared to the previous length of three and a half hours. “As for what calculators the College Board will allow students to use for the entire math section of the 2024 SAT, we will have to wait for further announcements regarding any restrictions.”
The College Board traditionally allowed TI-89 Calculators and TI-NSpire CAS Calculators, which include computer algebra systems, allowing students to solve algebraic problems by inputting equations into the calculator.
However, the ACT, another standardized college admissions test, does not allow these calculators although they allow other less powerful calculators for the whole math section.
“Our strategy in helping our students improve on the math section of the SAT will change depending on how the College Board alters their test and what calculators they will allow students to use.
