Marissa Sugawara is the reigning Mrs. Hawaii US Nation 2021 titleholder. Marissa began her journey with the Miss US Nation Pageants after attending a virtual casting call in September 2021 to compete for the national competition; Miss US Nation 2021 in Las Vegas, NV. Marissa was selected to represent her home state of Hawaii in her division to compete for the national crown, excited for the opportunity- she decided to give it a try. Marissa has been in the modeling industry for the past 20 years- fashion has been mainly her inspiration to get into the modeling industry. Additional perks such as; meeting new people, traveling, and making money are bonuses. Marissa believes that the modeling industry is all about persistence; “Practice, practice until you make it!”, she says.
As Mrs. Hawaii US Nation 2021, Marissa plans to implement her title into her modeling career by representing herself to her best ability and taking advantage of the opportunity to promote herself as an aspiring model in Fashion Weeks with Super Chic Fashion Week and other avenues. Of which, Marissa looks forward to being a part of NY Fashion Week winter season 2022 with Super Chic Fashion Week. Marissa also hopes to become a role model and to break the stereotype that beauty just fits one specific look; she would like to show others that every girl has their own unique beauty and that knowledge is part of beauty as well.
Marissa tends to cultivate patience, which she believes makes her different. “It is important to be patient. Even if you have a strong mind you also need to be patient.
