A panel of travel experts picked twenty nominees for The Best Boat Tour and announced them on their website, 10Best.com on May 1, 2021. The panel included a combination of editors from USA TODAY, editors from 10Best.com, relevant expert contributors, and sources for both media properties. For four weeks, the public was invited to browse the twenty boat tours and vote online for one nominee each day.
