Chicago area residence have been in the stay at home quarantine since March. The threat of the virus and the uncertainty produced by social distancing has increased everyone’s stress and anxiety levels.
Master Lee, a PhD. neuroscientist and Regional Manager with Body & Brain, said, “When we are subjected to prolonged periods of anxiety, your body’s flight-or fight response is triggered and a flood of chemicals and hormones, like adrenaline, are released into your body. This can weaken your immune system, leaving you more vulnerable to viral infection and frequent illnesses.”
Headaches, fatigue, joint aches, lack of focus, weight gain, digestion issues, and insomnia are just some of the symptoms associated with a compromised immune system. Master Lee explains, “To create balance and to promote natural healing and well-being, we must activate our body’s parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system. When the parasympathetic nervous system is activated, it produces a calm and relaxed feeling in the mind and body. This is particularly important during these stressful times.”
Like many businesses, Body & Brain had to temporarily close their doors for live training. Rather than worrying about things that are outside of their control, they decided to focus on what they can share instead. Body & Brain teaches several strategies and techniques in their classes to help people learn how to promote healing in their own body and optimize their immune system. They have been teaching these strategies in virtual classes to help their members to manage stress and feel more hopeful in an otherwise bleak situation.
To support their members’ families, friends, and local communities, Body & Brain is offering a FREE webinar and FREE virtual classes. Master Lee states, “The webinar on Saturday, May 30, reveals the principles of our practice on how to better manage your energy, mind and body. The FREE one-hour virtual classes start June 1 and cover training in Core, Meditation & Qigong, and Yoga. Each virtual group class will be an interactive experience designed to improve the overall well-being for ourselves, our loved ones, and our community. We want to share those feelings of hopefulness and joy that we experience together with our members to our friends and family all over the world”.
People can register online for the webinar on May 30 at 4 PM and the three weeks of FREE Classes starting June 1. When people register, they are entitled to take up to three free classes a week for three weeks. They are also encouraged to share the link with their friends and family.
