This new film is transforming filmmaking forever. From the original idea to the theatrical distribution… 100% home-grown.
After winning more than 13 Awards in the 2021 Independent Film Festival circuit in Cannes, Rome, London, Berlin, Toronto, India and many more. This Avant Garde “experimental film” directed by Arroyuelo Woolrich is now available to rent or buy in platforms worldwide.
Here’s why this film is so brilliant.
This New Wave Mexican film was a financial experiment that turned out to be a success
The producers created a disruptive financial scheme where anyone could buy stock of the film as if the film was a company. The stock could be acquired with Cryptocurrency, services, goods, or Fiat currency. Only $150,000 was used in cash. The rest, $2,350,000 were obtained through the acquisition of points from rental houses, locations, post-production, music, talent, etc. Instead of being paid for services or having salaries they now own a piece of the film.
For the hard cash (the first ones to recoup) the risk is reduced to more than 95%. Cash has a reward of 20%. From the $2,350,000, only $150,000 has to be paid to break even. Then the money is given “pari- pasu” and delivered equally on the percentage that every participant acquired throughout the whole project until the movie’s theatrical release. Which happened in Mexico City and mayor Mexican cities in April this year.
Opposite of regular production. Here over-budget works on behalf of the movie. The more expenses were brought into the production, the more expensive the movie became. One point on pre-production was 1% of the movie. The point was $5,000. At the time that the movie opened the price of the finished film was $25,000. That is a 400% profit on every point in less than four years.
The video art pieces that the hero “Nico.Rothko” creates in the movie can be bought on OpenSea and Mintable. The movie copyright can be acquired as NFT payed in ETH $26,000,000 approx. with a 20% residual for the artists or Collectors can buy the separate art pieces.
This meritocracy generated the movie they envisioned. That is 100% freedom of expression.
The multi-layered screenplay pays off as many times as the audience experiences the film. The movie is designed to be viewed many times.
It took six years of development and is designed upon two principles; the things the producers already had and a list of all the things that could’ve gone wrong. The three plot twists in the last 20 minutes of the almost two-hour film carve deep for the answers to the questions asked in the first hour and a half, and the final reveal stresses the viewer until their minds blow away.
The story is a two-way experience that makes the viewer have a reflection on addiction, parenthood, child abuse, and the digital reality humans live in.
More than eight cameras were used simultaneously from Arri Alexas to Hi8 vintage cameras all using their different textures and aspect ratios on behalf of the narrative.
2500 hours of material were processed and edited using clouds with assistant editors in remote locations in Europe, the US, and Mexico to get the 118-minute final cut. What makes this film so remarkable is that from the original idea to the delivery all was done by Arroyuelo Woolrich with the collaboration of his business partner Mate Zuniga. Think “El Mariachi” on steroids. Both gathered experienced actor Roberto Medina (Amores Perros) and hundreds of acting and film students, interns and professionals to complete the Feature film as Arroyuelo Envisioned.
Arroyuelo Woolrich & Mate Zuniga
