When permanent makeup is applied correctly, you can be left with the most perfectly enhanced features to increase your confidence.
However, as with any procedure, there is always a risk of something going wrong. Unfortunately, today, many PMU artists either haven’t had the correct accredited training or simply haven’t listened to their clients at their consultation and carried out a procedure not suited to them.
What are the most common problems with PMU?
Potential scarring: If an artist hasn’t had adequate training and enough practice, they risk going too deep into the skin when microblading.
Wrong shape or design: Once again, if a client hasn’t had the proper training for brow mapping on a client’s face, they can often get the shape wrong which won’t enhance the client’s features.
Pigment migration: This can happen with hair stroke brows or eyeliner. The pigment can spread beneath the skin and potentially start to blur. This can particularly happen if you suffer with an oily skin type.
So, how do we remove it if it goes wrong?
As with any tattoo, traditional or cosmetic, you run the risk of the pigment fading or simply falling out of love with it. However, when it comes to permanent makeup, trends are forever changing and evolving.
For years, laser has been the best form of removal when it comes to the traditional tattoo. Today, it has found an additional purpose of removing permanent makeup.
Laser removal works great for removing cosmetic tattoos with darker pigments such as eyeliner or eyebrows. However, it doesn’t always work well when removing pigments that contain titanium dioxide (used to lighten the pigments). If you find laser hasn’t been effective on your tattoo, then you may need to seek an alternative method of removal.
How does the laser work?As the laser is applied onto the skin, short pulses of light are emitted through the machine. This will cause a breakdown of the pigment particles which will soon begin to disperse.
Eventually, with each treatment, the particles will become so broken down that the cosmetic tattoo will soon appear less visible.
Laser isn’t a painful treatment is not an extremely painful method, however it will cause slight discomfort. Due to the fact that permanent makeup is applied a lot more superficially into the skin than a traditional tattoo, it makes it a little easier and faster to remove.
Before investing in permanent makeup, make sure to research your PMU artist. Always ensure they are reputable, qualified and fully accredited.
Never go for the cheaper option when it comes to permanent makeup, because it just means you will be having pay for laser tattoo removal in just a few years’ time. It’s always worth spending that little bit more to ensure you get a higher quality treatment.
