Popular Youtuber Relocates to North Carolina

WAXHAW, North Carolina – On Wednesday of this week popular Youtuber, Regie Collects will officially become a resident of Waxhaw.

For the last three years, Regie Simmons, an IFBB pro bodybuilder turned comic book collector, has been entertaining viewers with pre-recorded content and live streams from his base in San Francisco, CA. In the last year alone, he has racked up nearly ~900,000 views on YouTube.

“Many fans view comics as a form of escapism from the stresses of life. At various points during the pandemic comics were either in short supply or not available at all when the single distributor for North America shutdown,” says Simmons. “Thankfully during this period, people were able to watch channels like mine that were putting out great content to fill the void.”

The number of adults experiencing depression in the US has tripled, according to a recent study looking at the pandemic’s impact on mental health. Study researchers estimate that more than 1 in 4 US adults report experiencing symptoms of depression.

“The channel has become a nucleus around which an amazing community has grown,” says Simmons. We had people meeting during live streams that have gone on to have phone conversations, video sessions and now are starting to meet one another face-to-face in the real world. It’s really amazing to see this all happen thanks to the channel,” he added.

Regie will be moving to the area with his wife and two young children.
