Malaysian e-commerce company Limitless Technology Sdn Bhd, the holding firm behind consumer brands such as Flower Chimp, has launched it’s latest addition to its portfolio of brands, Cake Rush. CakeRush is set to become South East Asia’s #1 destination for consumers seeking to order cakes online. With the support of numerous local cake brands ranging from home-based bakers to well-known cake brands established at the national level, Cake Rush kicked-off this March to deliver smiles to customers with a sweet tooth.
The company uses proprietary logistics technology to enable baking shop operators to offer frictionless delivery of cakes and desserts. Coupled with significant online marketing investments across social media and search channels, CakeRush was able to generate “4 digit orders within the first few days after launch” – Maximilian Lotz (CEO). CakeRush started as a direct reaction to the limitations enforced on small businesses due to the COVID19 pandemic. When the coronavirus began to wreak havoc on the F&B industry, the majority of home-based bakers were confronted by a drop in sales as the social distancing rules were imposed, ultimately threatening the livelihoods of these businesses. CakeRush is helping these bakers with its delivery service to not just rebound from the crisis, but to even fuel their sales and to expand their operations entirely to a new level.
The retail sector suffered significantly during the lockdown periods on a global scale, as business owners were not allowed to open their stores and welcome customers. A remedy established itself in the form of novel delivery services, especially in the food and grocery categories. CakeRush has captured this trend during the lockdown and was able to position itself effectively in the cake category. Moreover, the management team is optimistic that even after the lockdown restrictions are lifted, the company will continue to record strong growth: “Southeast Asia as a region and the food delivery sector in specific has recorded tremendous growth in the last years, and all forecasts predict a continuation of this trend”, according to Lotz.
CakeRush continues its operations during Malaysia’s Recovery Movement Control (RMCO) restriction period, thereby allowing people to easily order cakes online without taking any risks by stepping outside of their house. Currently, close to two hundred different cakes, cookies & pastries are available from RM49 incl. free same-day delivery in the greater metropolitan area of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, commonly referred to as Klang Valley. Currently, there are approximately 50 Malaysian bakers and pastry chefs on the platform offering their creations. CakeRush is looking to add a significant number of vendors continue to offer a wider choice to consumers.
