Los Angeles, CA, USA – Michelle Jewsbury, international philanthropic, speaker and author of “But I Love Him”, has been invited to speak at the Women’s Economic Forum this week in Cairo, Egypt. The invitation comes on the heels of her nomination by Didi Wong for a Women of Excellence Award for Jewsbury’s advocacy work for survivors of domestic violence.
Jewsbury is helping women all around the globe break the cycle of trauma and abuse. She is the founder of Unsilenced Voices, a nonprofit focused on inspiring change in communities, and has been approved by the Sierra Leone government as a leading resource.
Furthermore, Michelle Jewsbury is a valuable asset in the speaking community. Her story of survival from domestic violence is being used to encourage and motivate others. Her best selling book, “But I Love Him” is a painful yet inspirational story of a strong, independent woman caught in the horrifying cycle of domestic violence, and how she got out.
In addition to speaking in Egpyt, Jewsbury will continue on her international tour to Ghana and Sierra Leone to receive updates on Unsilenced Voices projects. She will visit partner organizations and learn about what is necessary to continue the growth of Unsilenced Voices.
Over 20,000 women have been murdered due to domestic violence since 2003. Unsilenced Voices founder, Michelle Jewsbury, nearly became one of those women. In December of 2015, she summoned the strength to break that cycle, leave her abuser, and share her story. Unsilenced Voices exists to break the silence and end the cycle of domestic and gender-based violence worldwide.
