K-Stand is the dream child of CKdream, a company formed by the couple Carol and Keith Kimura. It is a specially designed, patent-pending instrument stand that can hold acoustic guitars and ukuleles perfectly. The product features a goal of $40,000 which will be used to cover the cost of production and marketing and has received a fair response from the backers. However, the product campaign will only be funded if it reaches its goal by August 5th.
The story behind the idea of K-stand is a romantic one. Keith wanted to make a handmade gift for Carol and as he saw her playing Ukulele and placing it on a flat surface or against the wall, whenever she took a break from it, an idea ran through his mind. He thought of making a stand for her instrument that would conveniently hold the instrument in place. Keith also wanted that stand to be portable, so she can take it easy with her, wherever she goes. After quite some time of brainstorming, he cut the first prototype of the instrument stand from paper. He realized that it could work so he began building it from a piece of wood and in a couple of weeks, he wrapped the gift to present it to Carol on Christmas. Carol loved the gift and it brought tears to her eyes. That laid the foundation for K-Stand.
For the next several months, Keith went on to develop many more versions for the K-stand before finalizing the one he is offering via Kickstarter. The present version of the K-stand is made for acoustic guitars and ukuleles and comes with beautiful engravings and wood burnt art. The couple has demonstrated the stand to several musicians who have given great feedback to it and requested for custom engravings, wood types, and finishes. The couple filed a patent for their product in July 2018.
