A raw, unfiltered memoir of survival, faith, and the courage to rebuild after a life shaped by violence and pain
In Outliving the Old Me: Rebuilding a Life from the Rubble of My Past, author J.J. Godoy takes readers on an unforgettable journey through the darkest corners of his past and into the light of transformation. This deeply personal memoir is not a tale of instant redemption but a brutally honest confession of struggle, survival, and healing.
Godoy opens with a chilling account of near-death experiences, street life, and the destructive cycle of choices that shaped his youth. From violent encounters and incarceration to the haunting silence of isolation, his story captures what it means to lose oneself completely—and then find the strength to begin again.
Facing the Truth and Finding Purpose
Outliving the Old Me is both a warning and a revelation. Godoy invites readers to confront their own pain, shame, and anger, showing that redemption is not about perfection but persistence. Through his powerful storytelling, he reminds us that we can rebuild even when everything seems broken beyond repair.
“This isn’t a fairytale,” Godoy writes in his preface. “It’s not sanitized. It’s raw, ugly, honest. And if you’ve ever felt like your past was a life sentence—you need to know this: you can rewrite your ending.”
