In a remarkable gathering marking the International Day of Peace, the Rotary Symposium for Peace in Paris brought together eminent figures from spiritual, cultural, and political spheres. The event featured Shaykh Mohamed Faouzi Al Karkari, the esteemed founder of the Al Karkari Institute and a leading voice in contemporary Islamic spirituality.
The Shaykh, embodying the essence of Sufi tradition, engaged in an enlightening roundtable discussion on secularism, skillfully moderated by Claire Derville from France 2’s ‘Le Jour du Seigneur.’ The panel, which included Father Alexandre Comte representing Christianity, Kiran Mathur from the Hindu tradition, and Pascal Colin from French civic leadership, explored the rich tapestry of secular thought between Moroccan and French perspectives, emphasizing the importance of interfaith dialogue.
During his address, Shaykh Al Karkari shared a profound message from the Qur’an that resonated deeply with the audience:
“We created you as nations and tribes so that you may know one another.” (Qur’an, Surah 49:13)
The Al Karkari Institute, under the Shaykh’s guidance, has flourished into a global spiritual movement with over two million adherents worldwide. Its mission encompasses both spiritual development and the promotion of interfaith understanding, establishing itself as a beacon for cross-cultural dialogue and education.
The symposium concluded with a touching ceremony where Shaykh Al Karkari received special recognition for his unwavering commitment to peace-building and fostering international brotherhood. This accolade serves as a testament to his ongoing work in bridging diverse communities and nurturing a global culture of mutual respect and understanding.
