The second Zigong Lantern Global Children’s Creative Collection activity commenced on September 25. This event was hosted by the Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival Organizing Committee and co-organized by several partner organizations. The theme of the event is “Hometown Light – Colorful Lantern Sentiment,” which encourages children aged 3 to 12 from around the world to use colorful lanterns as a medium to express their love and nostalgia for their hometowns. The Zigong Lantern Festival is recognized as a nationally designated intangible cultural heritage site in China celebrated for its artistic appeal and cultural significance.
Children may enter the competition by submitting electronic files or institutional submissions in various forms of creation, including watercolor, oil, gouache, printmaking, figure drawing, cartooning, and sketching. Several awards have been established to recognize individuals and groups for their outstanding performance, including the Outstanding Tutor Award and the Outstanding Organization Award.
The submissions will be assessed in three stages: preliminary evaluation, reevaluation, and final assessment. Awards will be presented for the best overall work, excellence in painting, and outstanding creativity. The winning entries will receive prizes and certificates, along with the opportunity to be showcased at the The 30th Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival.
The objective of this initiative is to integrate the breathtaking landscapes and rich cultures of the world into the Zigong Lantern Festival through children’s artistic expression. This approach will offer the audience a dual sensory experience, blending visual stimulation with emotional resonance. Additionally, it will elevate the reputation of Zigong lanterns, a traditional cultural asset, by highlighting their enduring appeal on an international platform.
