“One of the biggest mistakes people make when they plan a road trip is not engaging their whole family in the planning. Parents don’t realize that each of their travelers has a unique Roadtrip Personality and that in order to really have a great trip, they ALL need to be involved in the planning,” says Jana Donovan Nulik, co-founder of Roadtrip Possible. She goes on to explain that Roadtrip Personalities impact the way families communicate, respond to stress, relax/recharge and even how they plan, pack and play together.
Without taking those personalities into consideration and involving the whole family in the planning process, it’s no surprise that most family road trips end up being stressful, expensive and frustrating. The primary goal of Roadtrip Possible is to prove that it doesn’t have to be that way.
Roadtrip Possible helps families take epic road trips by providing a family-focused, step by step planning strategy that addresses every aspect of planning and traveling together. This proven strategy increases connection, collaboration and responsibility within families so they can relax and actually enjoy their time together.
Jana worked with her husband, Jason Cleaveland, to create Roadtrip Possible after they had spent 10 years taking road trips with their 4 kids. They traveled over 40,000 miles, visited 43 states, 80+ cities, 14 National Parks and more roadside attractions, museums and theme parks than they can count. They did it on a budget, with regular jobs, 2 weeks of vacation and the busy schedules of school aged kids/teens.
They were frustrated and overwhelmed when they set out to plan their first trip. There was so much information out there but nothing that actually walked them through how to plan a trip that would help them create priceless memories – without going broke, being stressed out or suffering through the meltdowns that tend to wreck family vacations. There were plenty of “must see” destinations, hacks and survival tips, and apps selling a one-size fits all automated solution. They saw immediately that there were some critical elements missing.
So, they leveraged their backgrounds as educators and program designers to create a system that is truly family-focused and works to ensure that every family can plan a trip that actually works for them.
Roadtrip Possible incorporates a wealth of practical guidance on planning (including how to use common apps and online resources) along with activities that help families plan road trips that increase connection, collaboration, and responsibility while having fun both at home and on the road. And, to top it off, they provide support and coaching so that families can feel empowered and supported every step of the way.
