As the new owner of the Thompson building, which was built in 1909 as the city’s first skyscraper, Gem intends to harness his more than 20 years of success in the building development industry to look to the future. He intends to accomplish more than just revive the building itself; he also plans to use his experience working with companies including Coca-Cola, AT&T, Zaring Homes, Fleetwood Housing, Disney, Macys, Vogue, Nabisco and other Fortune 500 organizations to unleash new life into Pottsville’s entire downtown area by attracting audiences from around the country.
